A new Field Trip FUND for South Lake Tahoe Schools

An El Dorado Community Foundation Fund

A volunteer board of 5 community members:

Kathy Haven, Kent Baer, Jen Bronken, Karen Goldberg, & Sara Pierce.

Our Mission:

Provide funds for overnight, standards based field trips for Grades 5 and below to encourage all schools to provide at least one overnight field trip for their upper elementary grade students in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

 

Our Objectives:

• Provide funds ($75) for children/families with financial need (families on free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs: #s as provided by LTUSD) to allow them the opportunities that come with an overnight, standards based field trip.

• Help teachers with fundraising by providing funds…allow teachers to concentrate on teaching/educating, rather than fundraising.

• Provide compensation for teachers ($100/night) for up to 3 nights.

The Logistics:

• Teachers/Admin Apply for a Grant (find application on the "Grant app for Teachers" Page) ) between September 1- November 1.

• Recipients announced on or before Dec.1; Funds for students mailed to LTUSD after contract signed.

• Teacher stipends paid out in June after all field trips are complete and final impact reports submitted.
